Spotify Wrapped 2022: How The World Listened to K‑Pop

K‑Pop fever continues to grow globally, with the top 10 most-streamed K‑pop artists reaching more than 16.5 billion streams this year.

It’s that time of the year to dive into the music that defined 2022 as we unveil our annual Spotify Wrapped campaign. And just for K-Pop ON! Track, we’re bringing you the scoop on how the world listened to the K-Pop genre this year.

The K-Pop waves continue to hit international shores, with no signs of slowing down.  The top 10 most-streamed K-Pop artists alone reached more than 16.5 billion streams this year, which is an increase of 20% compared with the past year.

While many K-Pop favorites continue to dominate the Wrapped charts, we also see several fourth-generation artists gaining ground. 

Here are the K-Pop highlights from Wrapped 2022. 

Global Top 10 K-Pop Artists

It comes as no surprise that BTSBLACKPINKTWICE, and Stray Kids kept their top four spots in the Global Top 10 K-Pop Artists list. Also on the list are SEVENTEEN, and fourth-gen groups TOMORROW X TOGETHERITZYENHYPEN and (G)I-DLE. BTS member Jung Kook ranked as the only solo artist in the list.

Global Top K-Pop Tracks 

BTS and BLACKPINK continue to rule. The two groups and some of their members swept up nine spots of the Top K-Pop Tracks this year. BTS faves Dynamite and Butter snagged first and second place respectively. BLACKPINK’s 2022 comeback track Pink Venom and LISA’s 2021 hit MONEY took the third and fourth spots. IVE’s LOVE DIVE gets a special shout-out as the only track out of the top 10 that doesn’t involve the top two groups.

Global Top K-Pop Girl and Boy Groups

Fourth-gen artists and groups continue to gain ground with K-Pop fans. ITZY, (G)I-DLE, aespa, IVE, LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, and STAYC take seven spots in the Top 10 Girl Groups, after BLACKPINK and TWICE who continue to hold the top two places. Red Velvet rounds off the list at number five. Among the boy groups, BTS and Stray Kids hold their top two spots, while fourth-gen boy group TREASURE entered the list at No. 10, joining SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ENHYPEN, NCT DREAM, ATEEZ, NCT127, and EXO.

Global Top K-Pop Solo Artists

BLACKPINK’s LISA was the most-streamed K-Pop female solo artist, followed by IU and TAEYEON who took second and third places respectively with their top songs LILAC and INVU. Jessi placed fourth thanks to her 2022 hit, ZOOM, while TWICE’s NAYEON took the fifth spot. The list of Top K-Pop Female Artists includes singer-songwriter BIBI, LeeHi, JEON SOMI, CHUNG HA, and ROSÉ.

Amongst the male solo acts, BTS members Jung Kook, j-hope, and V top the list of most-streamed K-Pop Male Artists. PSY, SUGA also known as AgustD, Jay Park, HA SUNG WOON, Jimin, JIN, and DPR IAN also made the list.
